When the Co-op Connections member benefit program was introduced in 2008, Krumbly Burger restaurant in Troy partnered with Cuivre River Electric Cooperative to become one of the original local businesses in the program.

Since 1987, Matt and Janet Bass have been dishing out their 92% fat-free loose burger to hungry customers who have become extended family.
Today, the infatuation of the “loose burger” in the Midwest continues to thrive at Krumbly Burger, along with goodwill and inspiration.

“We’re like a family here,” Matt says. “We know the customers and they know us.” In fact, customers with past local ties have walked in the door from out of state to satisfy their Krumbly Burger lunch-time craving, enjoy a family atmosphere, and the Bass family’s special kind of welcome.

For a time during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, going out to eat at restaurants wasn’t an option. With safety practices currently in place, such as removing a few tables so that social distancing isn’t a problem, the Krumbly Burger dining area is open, Janet says. Krumbly Burger also offers drive-through service for those who want to get their food to go.

“We’re proud to partner with Cuivre River Electric and offer a discount to our customers who show their Co-op Connections card,” says Matt. “We know that the co-op is a community-minded organization that looks out for its members’ best interests and figured the Co-op Connections was a win-win situation for each of us.” From the get-go, Krumbly Burger has offered members a 10 percent discount,* a special offer that continues today.

The couple is just one of the local business owners who are Co-op Connections partners. When you register for the program, you can visit the Co-op Connections website to discover more area businesses that are program partners and offer discounts.

If you’ve never tried a Krumbly Burger, drop by 70 Front Street in Troy. As the weather warms up, check out their eight flavors of hand-scooped ice cream, available either in a bowl or cone. Summer hours begin April 1 and run from 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
