The Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board met in May and awarded $33,532 in grants funded through Operation Round Up. Health grants were awarded to nine individuals and families from Bowling Green, New Hartford, O’Fallon, St. Peters, Troy, Warrenton, and Wentzville and included supporting several developmentally disabled individuals to attend Camp Wonderland for special needs and funding a new mattress and bed frame for a disabled woman.
Community organizations that received grants included:
• Boy Scouts of America — $1,000 to support the membership cost for children of low-income families from CREC’s service area.
• Prevent Ed — $720 to support the cost of supplies and printed materials for the organization’s education program of preventing alcohol and drug abuse.
• Nurses for Newborns — $1,500 to help fund screening and assessment tools for the organization’s program to help at-risk infants of poverty-level families.
• Winfield R-IV School District — $2,500 to support the district’s supplemental weekend meal program for needy students.
• Augusta Fire Protection District — $3,708 to support the purchase of replacement pagers that allow the department to communicate on the same channels.
• Restore St. Charles — $2,500 to help fund materials needed to repair/construct entry structures (stairs, ramps) for the homes of residents in need.
• Boys and Girls Club of St. Charles County — $3,605 to help support the purchase of food and snacks for the organization’s summer camps.
• Marthasville Fire Protection District — $1,976 to support the purchase of replacement pagers that allow the department to communicate on the same channels.
• Faith Christian Family Church — $2,500 to support the cost of supplies for the organization’s Back to School event for families needing help.
• Turning Point Advocacy Services — $6,045 to help with funding a camera security system for the emergency domestic violence shelter for women and children.
