In early August, 17 educators headed back to school to attend Energy in Today’s Classroom, hosted by Central Electric Power Cooperative, CREC’s Jefferson City-based transmission cooperative.

This annual event brings teachers from around the state together to get the latest on the energy industry and energy production.

CREC sponsored four of the 2023 attendees. They were: Jamie Bennett (Holt High School), Nicole Molitor (Barnwell Middle School), Christina Schaefer (Bryan Middle School) and Kimberly Voss (Holt High School).
The program took place over a two-day period, which provided attendees with 15 hours of professional development credit.

Energy in Today’s Classroom program is geared toward middle and high school educators who have backgrounds in science, math, agricultural science and building trades.
