These Terms of Use (ToU) and Conditions and Privacy Policy govern how Cuivre River Electric Cooperative (CREC) uses SMS/texting services.
Part 1: Terms of Use and Conditions (SMS/MMS Messaging)
Effective Date: April 7, 2026
By opting into CREC’s SMS/Texting services, you agree to these Terms of Use.
1. Member Service and Account Alerts Program Description
The Cooperative provides various text messaging services, including, but not limited to:
· Outage Alerts: Notifications regarding power restorations and estimated times of repair.
· Account and Billing: Reminders of payment, balance, and usage notifications.
2. Frequency and Pricing
· Message Frequency: The number of messages you receive will vary based on your account activity and current system conditions (e.g., severe weather events), and the type of SMS/texting alerts you sign up for through CREC’s member portal and/or the MyCuivre app.
· Message and Data Rates: Standard message and data rates may apply from your wireless carrier. The Cooperative does not charge a separate fee for this service; however, you are responsible for any charges from your mobile provider. Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages.
3. Opt-In/Opt-Out Instructions
· To Opt-In: When signing up for service with CREC, you will have the option to opt in to texting, or at any time, you may subscribe through our online member portal, through the MyCuivre app, or by calling member services.
· To Opt-Out: You may cancel the SMS service at any time, through the member portal, the MyCuivre app, or by calling CREC. Or you can text STOP to 636-255-8936. After you send the SMS message STOP to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed.
4. Help and Support
If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program, you can reply with the word HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly by calling 800-392-3709 or emailing crec@cuivre.com.
5. Supported Carriers
The Cooperative is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Most major carriers are supported, but please note that some regional or smaller carriers may not support these services.
Part 2: Privacy Policy (SMS Messaging)

The Cooperative is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect and use your information, specifically regarding our texting services.
1. Information Collection
We collect the following information for our texting services:
· Your mobile phone number.
· Your account number (to link the phone number to a specific service address).
· Your opt-in/opt-out status and messaging history.
2. Use of Information
Your mobile information is used strictly for operational purposes related to your electric service. We do not use your phone number for marketing purposes outside of Cooperative business.
3. No Third-Party Sharing
The Cooperative does not sell, rent, or lease its member lists to third parties.
· Mobile Information: Your mobile phone number and opt-in data will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
· Service Providers: We may share information with trusted service providers who help us deliver the text messages (e.g., messaging aggregators). These providers are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and are prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
4. Data Security
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your data is stored behind secure networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems.
