The Cuivre River Electric Community Trust Board met in August and awarded $33,399 in grants funded through Operation Round Up.

Health grants were awarded to eight individuals and families from Bowling Green, Hawk Point, Moscow Mills, Jonesburg, O’Fallon, St. Charles, St. Peters, and Troy. They included supporting a single mother with a disabled child to fund a new washing machine; supporting a disabled individual in need of a new water heater and helping two families with therapy needs for their disabled children. Several weatherization grants were also awarded, supporting two families needing replacement/repairs for HVAC systems; and helping a disabled gentleman who needed new windows and doors.

Community organizations that received grants included:
Winfield R-IV School District — $1,000 to fund supplies for their Bright Future program helping students/families in need.
Hanani House — $1,250 to help with technology needs for the education portion of their program that assists individuals in substance abuse recovery.
Sts. Joachim and Ann Care Services — $3,000 to help with food and shelter needs for their homeless clients.
Center for Hearing and Speech — $1,250 to support the cost of hearing aids, and hearing evaluations for the needy.
Great Rivers Crisis Intervention Team — $5,000 to help fund training for first responders to help identify psychiatric components during contact with individuals and get them the mental health care services they need.
Habitat for Humanity — $5,000 to help with supplies needed for their 2024 building season.
Warren County Health Partnership — $2,500 to help purchase window AC units for their “Beat the Heat” program, for clients in need.
