In 2022, CREC members received 24% of their power from renewable sources - 19% wind power and 5% hydropower.

The Green Power program, offered in partnership with CREC's generation cooperative, Associated Electric Cooperative Inc., gives members an option to buy renewable energy credits for up to 100% fo their energy usage.

Purchasing power through Green Power means that you can secure a portion of wind power generated in our region for delivery to the power grid - for you, for 12 months.

To participate, you will be required to purchase a minimum of one, 100 KWhs block each month for $1. While you can request to purchase additional blocks each month, the number of kWhs purchased cannot exceed your average monthly usage.

When you sign up, you agree to a 12-month commitment which is noted on your account. CREC accepts new participants at any time during the year but new contracts will only start in January or July.
