If you ever receive an email, text, or other notification that your CREC account is delinquent and in danger of disconnection, please know that CREC is here to help. We understand that unexpected circumstances can sometimes lead to difficulty paying your bill.
Seeing a red delinquent notice on your bill can be scary — no one wants to lose power to their home or business. However, letting your account get to the point of disconnection can result in more fees to reconnect. As your energy partner, we want to work with you to find a solution that fits your needs and help you avoid the issue in the future.
If you do fall behind:
Contact CREC immediately: Call 800-392-3709, ext. 4373, and ask for assistance from a CREC representative. The sooner you reach out, the more options we can examine. Our team is available to discuss payment plans or other arrangements to get you back on track.
Understand your bill: Review your bill carefully to ensure there are no errors or misinterpretations. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions about anything on your bill.
Explore payment options: We offer various ways to pay your bill, including online, by phone, through some local retailers, or in person. If you’re facing financial challenges, we may be able to set up a payment plan that works for you.
Look at CREC’s payment options such as our prepaid plan, MyPower, or budget billing. If you rely on a monthly income check, you can coordinate your due date with your schedule and can choose the 1st, 5th, 15th, or 25th of the month for your due date. Learn more at cuivre.com/paymybill.
There are also things you can do to reduce your energy use thus resulting in lowering your bill:
Seal up drafts: Caulk and weatherstrip windows and doors to prevent energy loss.
Adjust your thermostat: Lower your thermostat during the winter and raise it during the summer. Consider using programmable thermostats to automate temperature control.
Unplug electronics: Even when not in use, many electronics draw power. Unplug them when not in use to save energy.
Use energy-efficient appliances: When replacing appliances, consider energy-efficient models.
Switch to LED bulbs: LED bulbs use less energy and last longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
Remember, we’re here to support you. By taking proactive steps and reaching out to CREC, you can avoid disconnection and manage your energy costs more effectively.
