For those Cuivre River Electric Cooperative (CREC) members interested in running in the 2023 Board of Directors election, the deadline for submission of candidate nominations is noon on May 9.
Qualified candidates will be asked to attend a candidate reception and interview. This event is slated for Tuesday, May 16 at 6 p.m. at the CREC headquarters, 1112 E. Cherry St., Troy.
CREC bylaws require at least two candidates in each district. The committee has the final authority to select a slate of candidates from among the nominees. Once the committee has announced a slate of candidates, CREC members will have the opportunity to learn about the candidates prior to the election.
Four directors will be elected, one from each of these districts: St. Charles Districts 4 and 5, Lincoln County District 1, and Warren County District 3 (see shaded areas on map).
Online voting via a secure internet site or by paper ballot begins on July 17 and closes on August 21. Members also have the option to vote in person at the annual meeting on August 24 at the cooperative's Troy headquarters.
If you are a CREC member and wish to be considered for the ballot you are advised to:
- Check the map to learn if a director will be elected from your district this year.
- Contact either a nominating Committee member in your county or Chris Ryan, vice president of member engagement and technology, at 636-695-4831 or email cryan@cuivre.com
Director qualifications as specified in Article IV Section 3 (page 5) of the cooperative bylaws, are available here or are available upon request.
