Save with holiday lighting
LED holiday lights save 90 percent or more in energy costs and will last about 40 holiday seasons!
How much will I really save?
Running LED holiday lights to decorate one 6-foot tree for 12 hours per day for 40 days can save significantly more energy when compared to decorating a 6-foot tree with traditional incandescent holiday lights:
Type of light Electricity cost*
Standard C9 incandescent (125 bulbs, 6.6 watts each) $39.60
C9 LED holiday lights (125 bulbs, 0.096 watts each) $ 0.58
*Based on a rate of 10 cents per kilowatt-hour
These lights can multi-task
LED holiday strings are cool to the touch, reducing the risk of fire. They are typically made of a hard plastic, which makes them durable and shock-resistant. And since they use such a small amount of electricity, it is safer to plug multiple strings end-to-end without overloading your wall socket.
So where can I buy them?
LED holiday lights are available at many retail stores including Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Ace Hardware, Wal-Mart and many local retailers. Prices range from $7 a package and up, depending on the string length, amount of bulbs and features. They are available in many colors, shapes and sizes. Occasionally retailers offer special prices and promotions on these light strings, including reduced prices, rebates and exchange programs. Check with your local retailers for special offers.
